Formal From surfacing problems and opportunities to proposing a new program or function, everyone is encouraged to make and contribute to significant decisions. Reversible with risk or cost. Work with others to structure and iterate on a proposal. Invite diverse perspectives, obtain signoff from a few others—familiar and unfamiliar with the proposal. Radiate intent. Invite feedback and advice. Share with steering for visibility and advice. 5 working days. 10 encouraged. Brand: using EAR’s brand publicly. Relationships: commitments with individuals or entities (such as sending membership invitations, starting programs, or establishing partnerships). Tools and processes: setting up or modifying guides, tools, or software. Intellectual property: using EAR data or content. Money: spending collective funds.
Policy-level Policy updates streamline decision-making and promote shared understanding. Sets a new course or precedent for the collective. Work with collaborators to draft and iterate on a proposal. Obtain sign of from a handful of others, including at least one project committee member. Radiate intent. Draft a proposal. Invite advice. Escalate to steering for visibility and advice. 5 working days. 10 encouraged. Introduce new agreements or make changes to existing agreements.
Escalated There may be times when the wellbeing of the collective ought to be protected by reversing prior decisions to mitigate risk. Irreversible, at least in the near-term. Work with trusted thought-partners and a member of the project committee to address the issue. Radiate intent. Draft a proposal. Invite advice.
